WKB-Uni 3 rotary table saw
For one of the leading German companies in the field of brick production we have further developed our well known WKB-Uni 2 rotary table saw: One of our customers came to us looking for a special saw. The system was designed to make special cuts of flat laid brick slips and brick stretcher slips of 9 mm thickness. One of the specifications was an angle cut of 0 - 45 degrees.

We were able to fulfil this special request from our customer in no time. Our experts technically improved our WKB-Uni 2 saw, upgrading the drive from a hydraulic mechanism to a servo electric mechanism. This change alone already brought about an increased production and energy efficiency. Added to this was the use of special comfort panels and the switchover to the TIA portal. We also implemented a product database, with which cutting parameters could be set quickly and accurately at the touch of a button.
As an upgrade to the WKB-Uni 2 we also custom developed additional universal jigs for continuously adjusting brick slip thickness and/or width and in this way optimised the tooling times. Through the development of these universal jigs for producing brick slip returns or stretcher brick slips, the saw could also be used to create other special brick designs, such as Bishop's hats. Since the brick slips could now also be flat sawn, our customer is now able to use the system to produce special cuts for exhibition panels
The special task of producing a variable angled cut of between 0-45° was fulfilled through the development of jigs allowing a universally variable setting of the angle.
In order to offer our customers even greater flexibility, we constructed the saw in a modular design. In this way the option now exists to retrofit the plant with a Z-axis for the production of brick slip returns.
